We distinguish accordingly between major, minor and patch version numbers and specify versions in the format MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH.\n\nAn upgrade is an update from one major version to the next major version. For example, updating from JTL-Shop 4 to JTL-Shop 5.\nAn upgrade comes with new features but can also introduce incompatible changes to the system. Come with templates or plug-in interfaces. Therefore, please check whether the plug-ins you use and the desired template are also available for the new shop version.\n\nAn update, on the other hand, takes place within the same major version. It usually contains bug fixes and often new features.\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\t<p>For the update, you need a valid JTL-Shop licence with an active subscription (or CFE licence).<\/p>\n\t<p>You can download the current version of JTL-Shop here: <a class=\"external text\" href=\"https:\/\/kundencenter.jtl-software.de\"  target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer' rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Go to JTL-Customer Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t<p>Changes for each version can be found with the corresponding target version in our<span style=\"color: #212d35;\"><a style=\"color: #212d35;\" href=\"https:\/\/issues.jtl-software.de\/issues?project=shop\">issue tracker for JTL-Shop<\/a><\/span>. You need at least <strong>version 4.02<\/strong>! Please follow one of the previously mentioned update methods relating to your initial version before continuing with these instructions!\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"d-flex align-items-center hl-wawi\" id=\"instructions-for-an-upgrade-from-jtl-shop-4-to-jtl-shop-5\">Instructions for an upgrade from JTL-Shop 4 to JTL-Shop 5 <span id='anchor-instructions-for-an-upgrade-from-jtl-shop-4-to-jtl-shop-5' data-href='#instructions-for-an-upgrade-from-jtl-shop-4-to-jtl-shop-5' class='far fa-link' data-anchor><\/span><\/h2><h3 class=\"d-flex align-items-center\" id=\"system-requirements\">System requirements <span id='anchor-system-requirements' data-href='#system-requirements' class='far fa-link' data-anchor><\/span><\/h3><ul class=\"list-reset ml-3 list-icons list-custom-square list-shop\">\n\t<li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tYou need at least JTL-Shop 4.02 for the upgrade!\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tYou need at least JTL-Wawi 1.0! (For the correct processing of UTF-8 character sets, at least JTL-Wawi 1.6 is required!)\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\t\r\n<div><strong>64-bit Apache web server<\/strong>(PHP mode: FCGI or Apache Module) <strong>2.2<\/strong> or <strong>2.4<\/strong> with <strong>mod_rewrite module<\/strong>, <strong>.htaccess support<\/strong> (the web server must allow for default rules to be overwritten and added)<\/div>\r\n\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tOtherwise, please observe all standard <span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><a style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\" href=\"https:\/\/guide.jtl-software.com\/en\/jtl-shop\/jtl-shop-fee-based-editions\/initial-installation-of-jtl-shop\/#systemvoraussetzungen\">system requirements<\/a><\/span>.\t<\/li><\/ul><div class=\"media-object media-object-border d-flex align-items-top\">\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t<span class=\"mt-1 mr-3 flex-shrink-0 far fa-info-circle fa-2x columnsize-fa-2x text-shop\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"media-content border-shop\">\n\t\n\t\t\t<strong><span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\">Please note:<\/span><\/strong> If you use a customised template, please contact your JTL Service partner or developer in advance to have it prepared for the new version!\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\t<p>If you would like a new <strong>customised<\/strong> <strong>template<\/strong> and still need a <strong>partner<\/strong> to help you with it: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jtl-software.de\/servicepartner\">Find a service partner here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you would like to<strong>adjust your template yourself<\/strong> or update it, our developer documentation might prove useful: <a href=\"https:\/\/jtl-devguide.readthedocs.io\/projects\/jtl-shop\/de\/latest\/\">Go to JTL-Shop developer documentation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"media-object media-object-border d-flex align-items-top\">\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t<span class=\"mt-1 mr-3 flex-shrink-0 far fa-info-circle fa-2x columnsize-fa-2x text-shop\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"media-content border-shop\">\n\t\n\t\t\t<span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><strong>Please note:<\/strong> <\/span>If you use<strong>plug-ins<\/strong>, please find out in advance whether they are compatible with the new JTL-Shop version or whether compatible versions exist. That way, you can update to newer versions seamlessly or adapt to alternative solutions.\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"d-flex align-items-center\" id=\"step-1-preparations\">Step 1: Preparations <span id='anchor-step-1-preparations' data-href='#step-1-preparations' class='far fa-link' data-anchor><\/span><\/h3><ol start=\"1\" class=\"list-reset step mb-5 list-shop normal-step\">\n\t<li >\n\tYour JTL-Shop licence key works with both JTL-Shop 4 and JTL-Shop 5. If you only have a JTL-Shop 2 or JTL-Shop 3 licence, please purchase a JTL-Shop licence in our store.<\/li><\/ol><div class=\"media-object media-object-border d-flex align-items-top\">\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t<span class=\"mt-1 mr-3 flex-shrink-0 far fa-info-circle fa-2x columnsize-fa-2x text-shop\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"media-content border-shop\">\n\t\n\t\t\t<span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><strong>Please note:<\/strong><\/span> Please note that you must have at least <strong>JTL-Shop 4.02<\/strong> before you can upgrade to JTL-Shop 5. The upgrade is not possible with a lower version. An direct update from JTL-Shop 3 to JTL-Shop 5 is also not possible.\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"list-reset step mb-5 list-shop normal-step\">\n\t<li >\n\tActivate the maintenance mode in the back end of JTL-Shop under &nbsp;<span class=\"highlight\">View &gt; Settings &gt; Global<\/span>.<\/li><li >\n\tCreate a <span class=\"highlight\">backup copy<\/span> of all files of JTL-Shop. Pay particular attention to saving your <span class=\"highlight\">template files<\/span> (folder \/templates\/) as well as the shop&#8217;s <span class=\"highlight\">configuration file<\/span> (\/includes\/config.JTL-Shop.ini.php).<\/li><li >\n\tFrom now on, do <strong>not<\/strong> carry out any more synchronisations with JTL-Wawi. If you use JTL-Worker, you have the following options:<\/li><\/ol><ul class=\"list-reset ml-3 list-icons list-custom-square list-shop\">\n\t<li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tExit JTL-Worker and only restart it after the upgrade has been successfully completed.\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tExit JTL-Worker. In its background service settings, specify that no online shop synchronisations are to be carried out. Start JTL-Worker again to continue synchronisations with other platforms.\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tFor the affected JTL-Shop, lock the synchronisation in the Online shop connection dialogue.\t<\/li><\/ul><ol start=\"5\" class=\"list-reset step mb-5 list-shop normal-step\">\n\t<li >\n\tIf you use the object cache, deactivate itcompletely under<span class=\"highlight\"> System &gt; Cache &gt; Settings<\/span> !<\/li><li >\n\tCheck your plug-ins:<\/li><\/ol><ul class=\"list-reset ml-3 list-icons list-custom-square list-shop\">\n\t<li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\t<strong>Uninstall<\/strong> all plug-ins (active and inactive) of which you know that you will <strong>no longer use them<\/strong> after the upgrade or are not using anymore now. For these plug-ins, the files should also be removed on the web space from the directory \/includes\/plugins, as in rare cases even uninstalled plug-ins can cause problems after updates.\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\t<strong>Deactivate<\/strong> all plug-ins that you <strong>would like to continue using<\/strong> after the upgrade.\t<\/li><\/ul><div class=\"media-object media-object-border d-flex align-items-top\">\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t<span class=\"mt-1 mr-3 flex-shrink-0 far fa-info-circle fa-2x columnsize-fa-2x text-shop\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"media-content border-shop\">\n\t\n\t\t\t<span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><strong>Hint:<\/strong><\/span> If you use a lot of plug-ins and some of them have been deactivated for a long time, take screen shots of your currently active plug-ins. This way you can later distinguish the plug-ins that have been inactive before from the newly deactivated ones.\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n<ol start=\"7\" class=\"list-reset step mb-5 list-shop normal-step\">\n\t<li >\n\tCreate a backup of the JTL-Shop database or have one created by your hosting provider. <span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><a style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\" href=\"https:\/\/guide.jtl-software.com\/en\/jtl-shop\/maintenance\/creating-a-database-backup-of-jtl-shop\/\">Go to the guide page about creating JTL-Shop backups<\/a><\/span><\/li><\/ol><h3 class=\"d-flex align-items-center\" id=\"step-2-updating-jtl-shop-files\">Step 2: Updating JTL-Shop files <span id='anchor-step-2-updating-jtl-shop-files' data-href='#step-2-updating-jtl-shop-files' class='far fa-link' data-anchor><\/span><\/h3><ol start=\"1\" class=\"list-reset step mb-5 list-shop normal-step\">\n\t<li >\n\tLog in to the <a class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/kundencenter.jtl-software.de\"  target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer' rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">JTL-Customer Centre<\/a>. On the start page, go to<span class=\"highlight\">L\u00f6sungen von JTL<\/span> (Solutions by JTL) &gt;<span class=\"highlight\">Onlineshop: x<\/span><span class=\"highlight\">Lizenzen<\/span>(Online shop: x licences). The licence overview opens.<\/li><li >\n\tUnder <span class=\"highlight\">Lizenzen \u2013 ungruppiert<\/span> (Licences \u2013 ungrouped), you can now download the JTL-Shop installation package via the button <span class=\"highlight\">Aktionen &gt; Downloads &gt; Download<\/span> (Actions &gt; Downloads &gt; Download).<\/li><li >\n\tUnzip the downloaded zip file locally on your computer into a directory, e.g. C:\\jtl-shop.<\/li><li >\n\tDelete the following files in the downloaded package, as the files of the same name of your existing JTL-Shop contain individual data and should not be overwritten by the new files:<\/li><\/ol><ul class=\"ml-5 list-reset ml-3 list-icons list-custom-square list-shop\">\n\t<li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tinstall (complete folder)\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tadmin\/.htaccess (only if you have customised it)\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\trobots.txt (only if you have customised it)\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tshopinfo.xml\t<\/li><\/ul><div class=\"media-object media-object-border d-flex align-items-top\">\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t<span class=\"mt-1 mr-3 flex-shrink-0 far fa-info-circle fa-2x columnsize-fa-2x text-shop\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"media-content border-shop\">\n\t\n\t\t\t<span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><strong>Important note about the .htaccess files:<\/strong><\/span> New shop versions may include changes to the top-level .htaccess file of JTL-Shop. <strong>Those changes must be taken into account!<\/strong> For this reason, the file is not listed here and should be overwritten! If you have adjusted your .htaccess file (e.g. the recommended domain forwarding), you must either make the changes again in the more current .htaccess file or must not overwrite the file and add our changes to your .htaccess files!\r\n\r\n\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n<ol start=\"5\" class=\"list-reset step mb-5 list-shop normal-step\">\n\t<li >\n\tIf you use a standard JTL folder for your customised template, rename the new standard templates in the directory <span class=\"highlight\">\/templates\/<\/span> so that your customised templates are not overwritten in the next step. The folder <span class=\"highlight\">\/templates\/NOVA<\/span> will be overwritten.<\/li><li >\n\tOverwrite your existing JTL-Shop files (saved in step 1.3) with the files and folders unzipped in step 2.3 (except for the files removed in step 2.4) via FTP (merge folders, overwrite only existing files).<\/li><\/ol><div class=\"media-object media-object-border d-flex align-items-top\">\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t<span class=\"mt-1 mr-3 flex-shrink-0 far fa-info-circle fa-2x columnsize-fa-2x text-shop\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"media-content border-shop\">\n\t\n\t\t\tSet the transfer type in the FTP programme to <span class=\"highlight\">binary transfer<\/span>! You can update all existing plug-ins via the <span class=\"highlight\">Update all<\/span> button. This is the same image interface that was newly introduced for item images with JTL-Shop 4. This ensures that images are generated live when called up and that changes in the back end of JTL-Shop take effect immediately. With JTL-Shop 3 and 4, the images had to be synchronised again via JTL-Wawi for each change. As a result of this interface change, images are no longer stored in the <span class=\"highlight\">\/bilder\/<\/span> folder, but in the <span class=\"highlight\">\/media\/image\/storage\/<\/span> folder and are then generated for display in the front end in the <span class=\"highlight\">\/media\/image\/<\/span> folder, sometimes in up to four different sizes. The prerequisite for this is that the images have been resent at least once via JTL-Wawi (&gt;=1.0) after the upgrade.<\/p>\n\t<p>Since the old images (<span class=\"highlight\">\/bilder\/produkte\/<\/span>) will not be deleted, this initially requires more than twice as much storage space for images (also four image sizes as with JTL-Shop 3 and the storage folder for the original image files).
