Customers using JTL-Hosting should read the following instructions: <span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><a style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\" href=\"https:\/\/guide.jtl-software.com\/en\/jtl-hosting\/shop-update-faq-hosting\/\">Having a hosted JTL-Shop updated<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"media-object media-object-border d-flex align-items-top\">\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t<span class=\"mt-1 mr-3 flex-shrink-0 far fa-info-circle fa-2x columnsize-fa-2x text-shop\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"media-content border-shop\">\n\t\n\t\t\t<span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><strong>Please note:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><strong>Shop versioning &amp; upgrade vs update:&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;JTL-Shop uses the&nbsp;<a class=\"external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/semver.org\/lang\/de\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Semantic Versioning Specification (Semver)<\/a>. We distinguish accordingly between major, minor and patch version numbers and specify versions in the format MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH. An upgrade is an update from one major version to the next major version, for example an upgrade from JTL-Shop 4 to JTL-Shop 5. An upgrade comes with new features but can also introduce incompatible changes to the system. Come with templates or plug-in interfaces. Therefore, please check whether the plug-ins you use and the desired template are also available for the new shop version. An update, on the other hand, takes place within the same major version. The difference is that the patch package really only contains the changed files and thus the file upload is much faster. For example, if your subscription expired before the release of version 5.1.0, you cannot update to 5.1.0, but you can still use all future 5.0.x builds\/patches.\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"d-flex align-items-center hl-wawi\" id=\"instructions-for-a-jtl-shop-update\">Instructions for a JTL-Shop update <span id='anchor-instructions-for-a-jtl-shop-update' data-href='#instructions-for-a-jtl-shop-update' class='far fa-link' data-anchor><\/span><\/h2><h3 class=\"d-flex align-items-center hl-wawi\" id=\"system-requirements\">System requirements <span id='anchor-system-requirements' data-href='#system-requirements' class='far fa-link' data-anchor><\/span><\/h3>\t<div>You need<strong> at least JTL-Shop 5.0.0<\/strong> to follow these instructions. This may still happen, however. That way, you can update to newer versions seamlessly or adapt to alternative solutions.\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"d-flex align-items-center hl-wawi\" id=\"step-1-preparations\">Step 1: Preparations <span id='anchor-step-1-preparations' data-href='#step-1-preparations' class='far fa-link' data-anchor><\/span><\/h3><div class=\"media-object media-object-border d-flex align-items-top\">\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t<span class=\"mt-1 mr-3 flex-shrink-0 far fa-info-circle fa-2x columnsize-fa-2x text-shop\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"media-content border-shop\">\n\t\n\t\t\t<span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><strong>Please note: <\/strong><\/span>You need<strong> at least JTL-Shop 5.0.0<\/strong> to follow these instructions. For an update to a newer version of JTL-Shop 4, please read the <span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><a style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\" href=\"https:\/\/guide.jtl-software.com\/jtl-shop-4\/jtl-shop-kauf-editionen\/jtl-shop-updaten\/\">JTL-Shop 4 version of this page<\/a><\/span>.\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"list-reset step mb-5 list-shop normal-step\">\n\t<li >\n\tActivate the maintenance mode in the back end of JTL-Shop under <span class=\"highlight\">View &gt; Settings &gt; Global<\/span>.<\/li><li >\n\tCreate a backup copy of all files of JTL-Shop. Pay particular attention to saving your template files (folder \/templates\/) as well as the shop&#8217;s configuration file (\/includes\/config.JTL-Shop.ini.php).<\/li><li >\n\tFrom now on,&nbsp;<strong>do not carry out any synchronisations<\/strong>&nbsp;with JTL-Wawi. If you use JTL-Worker, you have the following options:<\/li><\/ol><ul class=\"list-reset ml-3 list-icons list-custom-square list-shop\">\n\t<li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tExit JTL-Worker and only restart it after the upgrade has been successfully completed.\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tExit JTL-Worker. In its background service settings, specify that no online shop synchronisations are to be carried out. Start JTL-Worker again to continue synchronisations with other platforms.\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tBlock the affected JTL-Shop for the synchronisation in the respective online shop connection settings.\t<\/li><\/ul><ol start=\"4\" class=\"list-reset step mb-5 list-shop normal-step\">\n\t<li >\n\tIf you use the object cache, deactivate it completely under <span class=\"highlight\">Administration &gt; System &gt; Cache<\/span>!<\/li><li class=\"media-single-line\">\n\tCheck your plug-ins:<\/li><\/ol><ul class=\"list-reset ml-3 list-icons list-custom-square list-shop\">\n\t<li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\t<strong>Uninstall <\/strong>all plug-ins (active and inactive) of which you know that you will <strong>no longer use them<\/strong> after the update&nbsp;or are not using anymore now. For these plug-ins, the files should also be removed on the web space from the directory <span class=\"highlight\">\/includes\/plugins<\/span> and\/or <span class=\"highlight\">\/plugins<\/span>, as in rare cases even uninstalled plug-ins can cause problems after updates.\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\t<strong>Deactivate&nbsp;<\/strong>all plug-ins that you <strong>would like to continue using<\/strong> after the&nbsp;upgrade.\t<\/li><\/ul><div class=\"media-object media-object-border d-flex align-items-top\">\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t<span class=\"mt-1 mr-3 flex-shrink-0 far fa-info-circle fa-2x columnsize-fa-2x text-shop\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"media-content border-shop\">\n\t\n\t\t\t<span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><strong>Hint:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/span>If you use a lot of plug-ins and some of them have been deactivated for a long time, take screen shots of your currently active plug-ins. This way you can later distinguish the plug-ins that have been inactive before from the newly deactivated ones.\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n<ol start=\"6\" class=\"list-reset step mb-5 list-shop normal-step\">\n\t<li >\n\tCreate a backup copy of the JTL-Shop database or have it created by your hosting provider.&nbsp;<span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><a class=\"external-link\" style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\" href=\"https:\/\/guide.jtl-software.com\/en\/jtl-shop\/maintenance\/creating-a-database-backup-of-jtl-shop\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Go to the guide page about creating JTL-Shop backups<\/a><\/span><\/li><\/ol><h3 class=\"d-flex align-items-center hl-wawi\" id=\"step-2-updating-jtl-shop-files\">Step 2: Updating JTL-Shop files <span id='anchor-step-2-updating-jtl-shop-files' data-href='#step-2-updating-jtl-shop-files' class='far fa-link' data-anchor><\/span><\/h3><ol start=\"1\" class=\"list-reset step mb-5 list-shop normal-step\">\n\t<li >\n\tLog in to the&nbsp;<a class=\"external text\" href=\"http:\/\/kundencenter.jtl-software.de\/\"  target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer' rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">JTL-Customer Centre<\/a>. On the home page, go to <span class=\"highlight\">Produkte &gt; Onlineshop &gt; Shop Editionen<\/span> (Products &gt; Online shop &gt; &gt; Shop editions). The licence overview opens.<\/li><li >\n\tUnder&nbsp;<span class=\"highlight\">Licences &#8211; ungrouped&nbsp;<\/span>, you can now download the JTL-Shop installation package via the button&nbsp;<span class=\"highlight\">Actions &gt; Downloads &gt; Download&nbsp;<\/span>.<\/li><li >\n\tUnzip the downloaded zip file locally on your computer into a directory, e.g. c:\\jtl-shop.<\/li><li >\n\tDelete the following files in the downloaded package, as these files are not required during an update:<\/li><\/ol><ul class=\"list-reset ml-3 list-icons list-custom-square list-shop\">\n\t<li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tinstall (complete folder)\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tshopinfo.xml\t<\/li><\/ul><ol start=\"5\" class=\"list-reset step mb-5 list-shop normal-step media-single-line\">\n\t<li >\n\tMake the same changes to the following files in the downloaded package, which you have also made to the files of the same name of your existing shop:<\/li><\/ol><ul class=\"list-reset ml-3 list-icons list-custom-square list-shop\">\n\t<li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\t.htaccess\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\tadmin\/.htaccess\t<\/li><li >\n\t\t\t<span class=\"list-icon fas fa-square\"><\/span>\t\trobots.txt\r\n\r\n\t<\/li><\/ul>\t<p>If you have not made any adjustments to these files in your existing JTL-Shop, you can use the files in the downloaded package without any changes.<\/p>\n<div class=\"media-object media-object-border d-flex align-items-top\">\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t<span class=\"mt-1 mr-3 flex-shrink-0 far fa-info-circle fa-2x columnsize-fa-2x text-shop\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"media-content border-shop\">\n\t\n\t\t\t<span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><strong>Important note about the .htaccess files:<\/strong><\/span> New shop versions may include changes to .htaccess files of JTL-Shop. <strong>Those changes must be taken into account! Don&#8217;t just overwrite these files with your old files.<\/strong> If you have adjusted your .htaccess file (e.g. the recommended domain forwarding), you must either make the changes again in the more current .htaccess file or must not overwrite the file and add our changes to your .htaccess files!\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n<ol start=\"6\" class=\"list-reset step mb-5 list-shop normal-step\">\n\t<li >\n\tIf you use a standard JTL folder for your customised template, rename the new standard templates in the directory&nbsp;<span class=\"highlight\">\/templates\/<\/span>so that your customised templates are not overwritten in the next step. The <span class=\"highlight\">\/templates\/Evo and \/templates\/NOVA<\/span> folders will be overwritten.<\/li><li >\n\tOverwrite your existing JTL-Shop files (saved in step 1.2) with the files and folders unzipped in step 2.3 (except for the files removed in step 2.4) via FTP (merge folders, overwrite only existing files).<\/li><\/ol><div class=\"media-object media-object-border d-flex align-items-top\">\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t<span class=\"mt-1 mr-3 flex-shrink-0 far fa-info-circle fa-2x columnsize-fa-2x text-shop\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"media-content border-shop\">\n\t\n\t\t\t<span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><strong>Please note:<\/strong><\/span> Set the transfer type in the FTP programme to <span class=\"highlight\">binary transfer<\/span>! Also check if all files have been transferred or if your FTP programme reports failed transfers. Alternatively, you can use the notification bell and click on the message <span class=\"highlight\">File structure: Error in the database structure.<\/span><\/li><li >\n\tThere you should see how many files are orphaned. You can carefully inspect the front end even if the maintenance mode is activated as long as you are logged into the same browser session into the back end. At the very least, check that the registration and purchase process can be completed successfully.<\/li><li >\n\t<strong>Check your individually adapted template if necessary!<\/strong> If your template is not up to date, have your template designer\/JTL service partner update it to the latest version. Otherwise, it may cause errors. By checking it against our new standard template, you can test whether an error is caused by your adapted template.<\/li><li >\n\t<b>Check your plug-ins!<\/b> After each update of JTL-Shop, <strong>updates<\/strong> may be required for some or all of the plug-ins. You can see whether an update is available under <span class=\"highlight\">Plug-ins &gt; My Purchases<\/span> after you have connected JTL-Shop to your Customer Centre account. You can update all existing plug-ins via the <span class=\"highlight\">Update all<\/span> button. These updates are not automatically imported since individual adjustments could be overwritten. Therefore, you must trigger the template update manually. To do this, first <strong>back up<\/strong> all of your customized email templates. Then open the back end of JTL-Shop and open <span class=\"highlight\">Administration &gt; Email &gt; Templates<\/span>. Click the <span class=\"highlight\">Reset<\/span> button for the templates. After that, you incorporate your previously saved adjustments into the now updated templates.<\/div>\r\n<\/li><\/ol><div class=\"media-object media-object-border d-flex align-items-top\">\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t<span class=\"mt-1 mr-3 flex-shrink-0 far fa-info-circle fa-2x columnsize-fa-2x text-shop\"><\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"media-content border-shop\">\n\t\n\t\t\t<span style=\"color: #5cbcf6;\"><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/span> When resetting, the contents of the templates for all languages except German and English are <strong>completely emptied<\/strong>, because there are no default templates for other languages.\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n<ol start=\"5\" class=\"list-reset step mb-5 list-shop normal-step media-single-line\">\n\t<li >\n\tIf no errors occur, deactivate the <span class=\"highlight\">Maintenance mode<\/span> under <span class=\"highlight\">View &gt; Settings &gt; Global &gt; Maintenance mode<\/span>.
