Note: On 1 September 2024, JTL introduced new editions that bundle most of the previous individual services into different packages. In order for you to continue working as smoothly as possible, existing customers were automatically switched to the package configuration that best matched their existing contract. The individual packages differ in terms of limitations and/or range of functions. Therefore, some of the features described in the JTL-Guide may not be available to you as part of your booked JTL edition. You can change your package configuration in your JTL customer account. Find out more about the new editions and packages here. Check our FAQ for frequently asked questions about the product editions.
Creating additional packaging
Your task/initial situation
You want to give your customers the option to select certain packaging options during checkout. For example, you could offer your customers gift wrapping or plastic-free packaging.
Creating additional packaging
- Log in to the back end of JTL-Shop with your admin access data.
- Navigate to Administration > Shipments > Additional packaging. The page Creating additional packaging opens.
- Enter a name and a description for the additional packaging for the different languages here. The names will be displayed during the checkout process.
- If applicable, set a price the additional packaging as a surcharge on the shipping costs as well as the minimum order value (gross). Only when this minimum order value is reached does the customer have the option of choosing this additional packaging.
- If desired, specify under Free from (Gross) the value of goods from which the additional packaging is free of charge. Costs for additional packaging will then only be charged between the minimum order value and the value entered into Free from. If you leave this field blank, the additional packaging option will always incur additional costs.
- Set which tax class is to be used for the additional packaging. All tax classes from JTL-Wawi are displayed here. Calculate automatically sets the tax class automatically based on the tax class predominant in the shopping basket.
- Under Customer group, specify the customer groups to which the additional packaging is to be displayed. Multiple selection is possible.
- Make sure the Active option is set to Yes and click Save. The additional packaging is now displayed to your customers during checkout. In orders in JTL-Wawi, the additional packaging is created as a custom line item. You will also see the additional packaging as a separate line item when delivering via JTL-WMS or JTL-PackingBench.
