Note: On 1 September 2024, JTL introduced new editions that bundle most of the previous individual services into different packages. In order for you to continue working as smoothly as possible, existing customers were automatically switched to the package configuration that best matched their existing contract. The individual packages differ in terms of limitations and/or range of functions. Therefore, some of the features described in the JTL-Guide may not be available to you as part of your booked JTL edition. You can change your package configuration in your JTL customer account. Find out more about the new editions and packages here. Check our FAQ for frequently asked questions about the product editions.
Importing postal codes
Your task/initial situation
You have specified that JTL-Shop should check whether the customer has entered a valid postal code when entering addresses, for example during registration or for billing and shipping addresses. To ensure that the online shop always works with current data, update the postal codes stored in JTL-Shop from time to time.
Importing new postal codes
Please note: In order for the postal code check to be carried out, the setting Check postal codes must be set to Yes. You can find it under View > Standard views > Registration in the Create customer account/Order without registration section.
- Log in to the back end of JTL-Shop with your admin access data.
- Navigate to Administration > Import > Postal codes.
- Click Import entries. An upload dialogue box opens.
- Select a CSV file and confirm the upload. The postal codes and location data will now be imported.
Please note: The CSV file that you are using to import the postal codes may not contain a header and must be UTF-8 encoded. Each line of the file must be structured according to the following pattern: Postal code;City;Country.
