Note: On 1 September 2024, JTL introduced new editions that bundle most of the previous individual services into different packages. In order for you to continue working as smoothly as possible, existing customers were automatically switched to the package configuration that best matched their existing contract. The individual packages differ in terms of limitations and/or range of functions. Therefore, some of the features described in the JTL-Guide may not be available to you as part of your booked JTL edition. You can change your package configuration in your JTL customer account. Find out more about the new editions and packages here. Check our FAQ for frequently asked questions about the product editions.
Setting up shipping methods
Your task/initial situation
As an online merchant, you have already linked JTL-Wawi with a fulfilment service provider via the JTL-Fulfillment Network. To be able to deliver sales orders via the JTL-Fulfillment Network, you must now link the shipping methods of the fulfilment service provider with your shipping methods.
Step 1: Creating shipping methods
- Create the required shipping methods in JTL-Wawi. Ideally, you should create at least one shipping method per shipping option offered by your fulfilment service provider. If you have already set up shipping methods in JTL-Wawi, you can continue to use them or add to them. Here you can read how to create shipping methods: Creating shipping methods
Note on newly created shipping methods: All you have to do is give the shipping methods a name and, if necessary, fill in the fields Rechnungstext (Invoice text) and Auftragstext (Sales order text) if you want to use them in your forms. All other fields are not required.
Note on sales orders originating from Amazon or eBay: Make sure that your shipping method contains the correct carrier code. If, for example, your fulfilment service provider ships with DHL, your shipping method must also have the eBay or Amazon carrier code “DHL”. Otherwise, the tracking ID provided to you by your fulfilment service provider may not be correctly transmitted to eBay or Amazon.
Step 2: Assigning shipping methods
The JTL-Fulfillment Network works with so-called FFN shipping methods. FFN shipping methods enable you and your fulfilment service provider to combine shipping methods from JTL-Wawi. As soon as you select one of the shipping methods linked to an FFN shipping method for a shipment, the FFN shipping method is automatically sent to the JTL-Fulfillment Network and the fulfilment service provider.
- Go to the menu Lager > Lager (Warehouses > Warehouse) to open the dialogue box Lager anlegen/bearbeiten (Creating and editing warehouses).
- Select the warehouse of your fulfilment service provider in the warehouse list and switch to the JTL-Fulfillment Network tab.
- Under FFN-Versandarten (FFN shipping methods), you can see the shipping methods assigned to you by your fulfilment service provider. Select one of the shipping methods.
- Then activate all shipping methods in Wawi-Versandarten (JTL-Wawi shipping methods) that are to be assigned to this FFN shipping method. Also, select one of the shipping methods in the Standard (Default) column. This specifies which JTL-Wawi shipping method is selected by default when this FFN shipping method is transmitted by the fulfilment service provider.
- Repeat these steps for all other FFN shipping methods provided by your fulfilment service provider.
- Save your settings via the button Save (Speichern).
