Note: On 1 September 2024, JTL introduced new editions that bundle most of the previous individual services into different packages. In order for you to continue working as smoothly as possible, existing customers were automatically switched to the package configuration that best matched their existing contract. The individual packages differ in terms of limitations and/or range of functions. Therefore, some of the features described in the JTL-Guide may not be available to you as part of your booked JTL edition. You can change your package configuration in your JTL customer account. Find out more about the new editions and packages here. Check our FAQ for frequently asked questions about the product editions.
Creating custom form fields
Your task/initial situation
In addition to the default information obtained from customers during their registration for JTL-Shop, you can also collect other data; e.g. whether they are business or private customers.
Adding form fields
Self-defined form fields allow you to request further information from your customers. The entered data is sent to JTL-Wawi as customer attributes.
Please note: The following applies to the transfer of customer attributes back to JTL-Shop: Only when the customer attributes maintained in JTL-Wawi have also been created as a form field in JTL-Shop can they be saved in the online shop.
- Log in to the back end of JTL-Shop with your admin access data.
- Go to View > Custom contents > Extended customer data. Here you can create as many new form fields as you like.
- Use the Language field to select the language for which you want to create a field.
- Go to the Settings tab and select Yes for Show custom form fields.
- Go back to the tab Extended customer data and adjust all required settings. Go to detailed description of settings: Extended customer data.
- Click Save to apply your changes. From now on, the field will be displayed when a visitor creates a customer account.
Hint: Custom form fields can be easily handled with workflows. To do this, simply enter Kunden\Attribute enthält (Customers\Attributes contains) and enter the field value into the field. If you create the workflow for newly registered online shop customers, you should add a small delay to make sure that the attribute is already registered when the conditions are checked.
