    Setting up island surcharges

    Your task/initial situation

You ship your items with a shipping service provider that offers different conditions depending on the postal code area of the destination country. This could be the case with the German islands, for example.

    Setting up island surcharges

In JTL-Shop you can define surcharges for individual postal code areas per shipping method. You can store individual postal codes as well as ranges of postal codes.

    1. First create a shipping method. Go to help pages for setting up shipping methods
    1. Switch to the overview of shipping methods (Administration > Shipments > Shipping methods).
    2. In the Shipping method column, click on the destination country to which you want to add a new postal code area with a surcharge. This will take you to the Surcharge lists page.

    Creating surcharge lists

You can define several surcharge lists for each destination country. This allows you to define different surcharges for different postal code areas.

    1. On the Surcharge lists page, click the Createbutton.
    2. Enter an internal name for the list into Surcharge list.
    3. Under Displayed name, enter a name for each language maintained in JTL-Shop.
    4. Under Surcharge (Amount), define the gross amount to be charged additionally for the shipment. This amount is added in the default currency of JTL-Shop.
    1. Click Save. The surcharge list is now available and can be configured as needed.

    Configuring surcharge lists

You can add any number of postal codes or postal code areas to each individual surcharge list.

    1. To do this, click on the plus symbol behind the desired surcharge list.
    1. Enter the postal code under Postal code or the postal codes you want to add to your list under Postal code area.
    2. Click Add postal code. The postal code or area is added to your list.

The created surcharge is now displayed for all customers who select one of the specified postal codes as their shipping address or who carry out the shipping cost calculation with one of the set-up postal codes.
