    Setting up the withdrawal policy and the terms and conditions

    Your task/initial situation

    You have an online shop and would like to add legally required texts concerning general terms and conditions and the right of withdrawal.

    Setting up the withdrawal policy and the terms and conditions

    Please note: If you are unsure of the wording of your terms and conditions and withdrawal policy, you can contact our technology partners who offer prewritten text blocks. Here you can find a list of technology partners: Go to partner list: Legal
    1. Log in to the back end of JTL-Shop with your admin access data.
    2. Go to View > Custom contents > Terms/Withdrawal.

    You can add separate terms and conditions and withdrawal policies for every customer group in JTL-Shop.

    1. Under Language, select the language in which you want to add the texts.
    2. In the Action column, select the Edit icon for the appropriate customer group to make changes.
    Please note: Unregistered users always see the terms and conditions and withdrawal policy of the default customer group.

    There are three texts that can be edited:

    • Terms and conditions: Enter your terms and conditions here.
    • Withdrawal: Enter your withdrawal policy here.
    • Model withdrawal form: Here you can draw up a withdrawal form that your customers can simply complete and send to you when they wish to cancel an order.

    For every text, you can choose between editing plain text or using the HTML editor.

    1. Click Save to apply your changes.
    Please note: If you have also entered the withdrawal text under View > Custom contents > Pages for the respective special page, both texts will be displayed. We therefore recommend to only maintain the text under View > Custom contents > Terms/Withdrawal as described on this page.

    Display options for terms and conditions and withdrawal policy

    The terms and conditions and the withdrawal policy can be displayed in two places:

    • At the bottom of your online shop in the “Legal” section
    • During the order process

    The links to the terms and conditions and the withdrawal policy are already part of the section “Legal” in the footer of every page. These settings can be changed under View > Custom contents > Pages; please see Custom pages.

    The terms and conditions are displayed in the order process by default.

    Hint: It is not obligatory to require customers to check a box in the order process as confirmation that they have read the terms and conditions. It is enough to clearly display a reference to the current terms and conditions and a link to the latter. If you still want to use an additional check box, please see: Creating check boxes.

    During the order process

    The withdrawal policy can be displayed during the order process as an optional pop-up window. The link will be displayed after the standard terms and condition reference.

    Withdrawal

    To display the withdrawal policy, do the following:

    1. In the back end of JTL-Shop, go to View > Standard views > Order process.
    2. In the Order process section, set the option Show withdrawal policy in order process to Yes.
    1. Click Save to apply your changes. During the checkout, the withdrawal policy will be displayed in a pop-up.
