    Setting up the blog in JTL-Shop

    Your task/initial situation

    You do not only want to sell items in your online shop but also offer regular news to your customers. In order to do that, you would like to write a variety of blog posts and integrate them into your online shop.

    Requirements/Restrictions

    Setting up the blog

    1. In the back end of JTL-Shop, open the Blog page via the menu Marketing > Promotions > Blog posts.
    2. Switch to the Settings tab.
    3. Make all necessary settings.
    4. Click Save to save your settings.

    You have successfully made the settings for your blog.

    Writing a blog post

    1. In the back end of JTL-Shop, open the Blog page via the menu Marketing > Promotions > Blog posts menu.
    2. Switch to the Posts tab.
    3. Click Create new post. The Create new post page opens.
    4. Enter all data relevant for the new post.
    5. Enter the blog post in the Text input field.
    6. Click Save to save your new blog post.

    You have successfully created a new blog post.

    Creating blog categories

    1. In the back end of JTL-Shop, open the Blog page via the menu Marketing > Promotions > Blog posts.
    2. Switch to the Categories tab.
    3. Click Create new category. The Create new category page opens.
    4. Enter all data relevant for the category.
    5. Click Save to save your new category.

    You have successfully created a new category.

    Activating comments

    The settings Allow comments on blog posts and Activate comments are enabled by default for JTL-Shop. You can disable these settings under Marketing > Promotions > Blog posts > Settings.

    1. In the back end of JTL-Shop, open the Blog page via the menu Marketing > Promotions > Blog posts menu.
    2. Switch to the Unactivated comments tab.
    3. Activate the corresponding check box to select a comment.
    4. Click on the Activate button.

    You have activated a comment. The comment is now publicly visible in your online shop.

    Detail: If you want to edit a comment, click on the pen icon in the table row of the respective comment. If you want to delete a comment, activate the check box of the respective comment and click Delete.

    Responding to comments

    1. In the back end of JTL-Shop, open the Blog page via the menu Marketing > Promotions > Blog posts menu.
    2. Switch to the Posts tab.
    3. In the table row of the respective post, click on the number in the Comments column.
    1. The comments on the post are displayed. Click on the arrow next to the name of the commenter.
    1. A text field opens. Enter an answer into the text field.
    2. Click Save to save your answer.

    You have successfully replied to a comment. Your answer is now publicly visible in your online shop.

    Blog in the online shop front end

    Your blog posts will be displayed in two places in the front end of your online shop. Your customers will find the blog posts in the ribbon in the header of your online shop under News. A short presentation of your blog posts is also displayed on the homepage above the footer.

    Renaming blog language variables

    You can rename the language variable News in JTL-Shop according to your requirements, e.g. change them to blog, recipes, events, etc.

    1. In the back end of JTL-Shop, go to Administration > Language variables to open the Language variables and text blocks page. Read more on the topic: Editing user interface texts.
    2. Enter “News” in the Search field. The corresponding language variables are displayed.
    3. In the Contents column, click on the text to edit the text.
    4. Click Save to save your changes.
