Note: On 1 September 2024, JTL introduced new editions that bundle most of the previous individual services into different packages. In order for you to continue working as smoothly as possible, existing customers were automatically switched to the package configuration that best matched their existing contract. The individual packages differ in terms of limitations and/or range of functions. Therefore, some of the features described in the JTL-Guide may not be available to you as part of your booked JTL edition. You can change your package configuration in your JTL customer account. Customising the display of items in boxes

Your task/initial situation

You want to define whether various boxes are displayed and how much content is displayed in them.

General information about boxes in JTL-Shop

JTL-Shop provides you with different types of boxes. These can include all kinds of content. For example, you can offer your customers filter options for the item overview or display the contents of the basket.

Different boxes that contain items from your online shop are also very important. In this chapter, you will learn how to customise the general presentation of these items.

You can configure the boxes that are displayed on the start page separately. Go to help page Configuring the start page.

Changing the display in boxes

In principle, the following boxes are available to you:

Bestsellers: They contain the best-selling products of your JTL-Shop. You can use the option Minimum number of sales for bestsellers in the Items section under View > Settings > Global to specify when items are to be considered bestsellers.
Special offers: Special offers are all items for which there is currently a special price in your online shop. Read here how to set up special prices in JTL-Wawi.
New in product range: This is set in the item master data of JTL-Wawi. Please see Item master data: General info – Tab: Online shops/JTL-POS.
Top items: This is also set in the Online shops/JTL-POS tab of the JTL-Wawi item master data.
Recently viewed: This box contains the items that the visitor viewed last.
Items coming soon: Items for which a release date is set in the future and which have already been activated for your JTL-Shop.
Wish list: Items that visitors have put on their wish list are displayed here. The wish list settings can be found at View > Standard views > Wish list.
Comparison list: Customers can use the comparison list to directly compare similar items. The settings for the comparison list can be found at View > Standard views > Comparison list.
Top rated: If you use the review system, the best rated products are displayed here. Please see: Activating item reviews

Please note: Boxes are only displayed if there is at least one piece of content for the boxes. If, for example, you have not yet sold any items, the Bestsellers box will not be displayed.

To open the settings for the boxes, proceed as follows:

Log in to the back end of JTL-Shop with your admin access data.
Navigate to the menu item View > Standard elements > Footers/Boxes > Tab: Settings.

Depending on the box, you will find different options. With most boxes you have the following option:

Number of displayed items: Here you set how many items are to be shown in the box.

The following options are available for selected boxes:

Base number of items: Specify from how many items the items displayed in the box are randomly selected.

Maximum age of items in days: In the New in product range box, you can specify how many days items are considered as new.

Show comparison list: You can choose to display the comparison list to customers by selecting Yes.

Show images: With this option you determine whether item images should also be displayed on the Wish list.

Top rated requires average rating of: In the Top rated box, you can specify the minimum average rating that displayed items should have. In this way, you can avoid displaying items with poor ratings, especially if there are few ratings.

Click Save to apply the settings.
