General checkout procedure

Your task/initial situation

You have fully set up JTL-POS. Now, you would like to get an overview of how the checkout process works in JTL-POS.

Checkout process steps

You can start a new receipt both manually or automatically. If you would like to start a new receipt automatically, enable the Start receipt automatically option under Settings > Cash register. Once this option is enabled, a receipt will always start automatically as soon as you enter an item. To be able to create a receipt, you need the Create and edit receipts user right. For more information on this topic, see: Managing user rights.

Tap the New receipt button in the cashier view. A new receipt will be created.

Optional: Assign the receipt to a customer. For more information on this topic, click here: Assigning a customer to a receipt.

Enter all the items that you would like to check out. You have the option to enter items via the list of categories or the quick entry function. For more information on this topic, click here: Adding items to receipts.

Please note: If you would like to add deposit items to the receipt or refund the deposit, please also read: Selling deposit items and refunding deposits. If you would like to enter an unmaintained item that is not yet in the JTL-POS database, read: Adding unmaintained items to receipts.
